Configure Your Email on iOS Devices

Adding your SillyHost email account to your iPhone or iPad allows you to send and receive emails on the go. Follow these steps to get set up using the built-in Mail app.

Before You Begin

You will need the following information:

  • Email address: Your full email address (e.g., you@yourdomain.co.uk)
  • Password: The password you set when creating the email account
  • Incoming server: mail.yourdomain.co.uk
  • Outgoing server: mail.yourdomain.co.uk
  • Port (IMAP): 993 with SSL
  • Port (SMTP): 465 with SSL

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Scroll down and tap Mail, then tap Accounts.
  3. Tap Add Account and select Other.
  4. Tap Add Mail Account.
  5. Enter your Name, Email, Password, and a Description (e.g., Work Email). Tap Next.
  6. Select IMAP at the top of the screen (recommended over POP3).
  7. Under Incoming Mail Server, enter the hostname mail.yourdomain.co.uk, your full email as the username, and your password.
  8. Under Outgoing Mail Server, enter the same hostname, username, and password.
  9. Tap Next and wait for verification. Tap Save when complete.

IMAP vs POP3

We strongly recommend using IMAP as it syncs your emails across all devices. With POP3, emails are downloaded and removed from the server, meaning they will only exist on one device.

Troubleshooting

If the account fails to verify, double-check your server hostname and ensure your password is correct. You may also need to accept the SSL certificate if prompted. If issues persist, try using your server hostname from cPanel instead of mail.yourdomain.co.uk.
