Add Your Email Account to Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft Outlook is one of the most popular desktop email clients. Here is how to configure your SillyHost email account in Outlook for Windows and Mac.

Server Details

  • Incoming server (IMAP): mail.yourdomain.co.uk — Port 993 (SSL/TLS)
  • Outgoing server (SMTP): mail.yourdomain.co.uk — Port 465 (SSL/TLS)
  • Username: Your full email address
  • Password: Your email account password

Outlook for Windows (Microsoft 365)

  1. Open Outlook and go to File > Add Account.
  2. Enter your email address and click Advanced options. Tick Let me set up my account manually.
  3. Select IMAP from the account type options.
  4. Enter the incoming and outgoing server details as listed above.
  5. Enter your password when prompted and click Connect.
  6. Outlook will test the connection. Once successful, click Done.

Outlook for Mac

  1. Open Outlook and go to Outlook > Preferences > Accounts.
  2. Click the + button and select New Account.
  3. Enter your email address and click Continue.
  4. If auto-configuration fails, select IMAP and enter the server details manually.
  5. Click Add Account to complete the setup.

Important Notes

  • Always choose IMAP over POP3 to keep emails synchronised across devices.
  • Ensure SMTP authentication is turned on. This is required for sending emails through our servers.
  • If Outlook continually asks for your password, remove the account and re-add it, ensuring you enter the password correctly.
  • For older versions of Outlook (2016 and earlier), you may need to go to Account Settings > More Settings > Outgoing Server tab and tick My outgoing server requires authentication.
