Transfer Your Domain to SillyHost

Moving your domain to SillyHost is a straightforward process. Domain transfers typically complete within 5 to 7 days, and we will guide you through every step.

Before You Begin

  • Your domain must be at least 60 days old and must not have been transferred in the last 60 days (ICANN policy).
  • Ensure the domain is unlocked at your current registrar.
  • Disable WHOIS privacy temporarily so the transfer approval email reaches you.
  • Obtain the EPP authorisation code (also called a transfer key or auth code) from your current registrar.

Step-by-Step Transfer Process

  1. Log in to your SillyHost client area and go to Domains > Transfer a Domain.
  2. Enter the domain name you wish to transfer.
  3. Provide the EPP authorisation code when prompted.
  4. Complete payment. A domain transfer includes a one-year renewal added to your current expiry date.
  5. You will receive an email from the gaining registrar asking you to approve the transfer. Click the approval link.
  6. Your current registrar may also send an email. Do not reject the transfer.
  7. Wait 5 to 7 days for the transfer to complete.

UK Domains (.co.uk, .org.uk)

UK domains managed by Nominet use a different process. Instead of an EPP code, you need to update the IPS tag at your current registrar to our tag. Contact our support team to confirm the correct IPS tag before initiating the transfer.

After the Transfer

Once complete, you can manage your domain entirely from the SillyHost client area, including DNS records, nameservers, and renewal settings.
