Transferring Your Domain to Another Registrar
While we would love to keep you as a customer, we understand that sometimes you need to move your domain elsewhere. Here is how to transfer a domain away from SillyHost.
Prerequisites
- The domain must be at least 60 days old and must not have been transferred recently.
- The domain must not be within 60 days of its expiry date (some registrars will reject transfers for expiring domains).
- Ensure there are no outstanding invoices on your account related to the domain.
Steps to Transfer Away
- Log in to your SillyHost client area at
sillyhost.co.uk/portal. - Navigate to Domains > My Domains and select the domain you wish to transfer.
- Click Get EPP Code (or Auth Code). The code will be sent to the email address on file for the domain.
- Ensure the domain lock is set to Unlocked in the domain management panel.
- Provide the EPP code to your new registrar and initiate the transfer on their end.
- Approve any confirmation emails you receive from both SillyHost and the new registrar.
UK Domain Transfers
For .co.uk and .org.uk domains, the process uses Nominet IPS tags rather than EPP codes. Contact our support team and we will update the IPS tag to your new registrar's tag. The transfer typically completes within a few hours for UK domains.
Important Notes
- Transferring a domain does not transfer your hosting, email, or website files. You will need to set those up separately with your new provider.
- Domain transfer fees are typically charged by the receiving registrar, not by SillyHost.
