Upgrading Your SillyHost Hosting Plan
As your website grows, you may need more resources. Upgrading your hosting plan at SillyHost is simple and can be done without any downtime.
When to Consider an Upgrade
- Your website is loading slowly due to high traffic or resource usage.
- You are approaching your disk space or bandwidth limits.
- You need more email accounts or databases than your current plan allows.
- You want to host additional websites on the same account.
- Your application requires more PHP memory or processing power.
How to Upgrade
- Log in to your SillyHost client area at
sillyhost.co.uk/portal. - Navigate to Services > My Services.
- Click on the hosting package you want to upgrade.
- Select Upgrade/Downgrade from the left-hand menu.
- Choose your new plan from the available options. The price difference will be calculated automatically on a pro-rata basis.
- Review the changes and confirm the upgrade.
- Complete payment for the price difference.
What Happens During the Upgrade
Your upgrade is processed automatically and typically completes within a few minutes. There is no downtime and your website files, databases, and email accounts remain intact. The new resource limits take effect immediately.
Upgrade Paths
- Shared to a higher shared plan: Instant, no migration needed.
- Shared to VPS: Requires a server migration. Our team will handle this for you and coordinate a convenient time.
- VPS to a higher VPS plan: Usually instant if resources are available on the same node.
Pro-Rata Billing
You only pay the difference between your current plan and the new plan for the remainder of your billing cycle. This means you are never charged twice for the same period.
