Downgrading Your Hosting Plan
If your website's resource requirements have decreased or you want to reduce costs, you can downgrade your hosting plan. Here is what you need to know before and during the process.
Before You Downgrade
It is important to check that your current usage fits within the limits of the lower plan:
- Disk space: Ensure your total file and database size is below the new plan's storage limit.
- Bandwidth: Check that your monthly traffic will not exceed the new plan's bandwidth allocation.
- Email accounts: Verify the new plan supports the number of email accounts you have.
- Databases: Ensure the number of databases does not exceed the new plan's limit.
- Addon domains: If you host multiple websites, confirm the new plan allows enough addon domains.
How to Downgrade
- Log in to your SillyHost client area.
- Navigate to Services > My Services.
- Click on the hosting package you wish to downgrade.
- Select Upgrade/Downgrade from the actions menu.
- Choose the lower plan from the list.
- Review the changes. A credit will be applied to your account for the price difference.
- Confirm the downgrade.
What Happens After Downgrading
The downgrade takes effect immediately. Your new resource limits are applied and any account credit from the price difference can be used towards future invoices.
Important Warnings
- If your current usage exceeds the limits of the new plan, the downgrade may fail or certain features may stop working.
- Reduce your disk usage and remove unnecessary files or databases before downgrading.
- Email accounts exceeding the new limit may need to be removed before the downgrade can proceed.
